Art Immersion Journey to Chiang Mai 5-19 November 2027
Travel differently. Learn by making.
Maison Renaissance creates small-group journeys for adults and families who want to experience Asia through its traditional arts, crafts, people and places.
For around two weeks, we spend our days meeting local artisans and learning directly from them. Rather than simply watching a demonstration, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the maker and create something yourself.
Depending on the destination, this might mean working with textiles and natural dyes, learning to weave, making ceramics or paper, carving wood, exploring metalwork, or discovering a craft that is particular to the region we are visiting.
I have spent time in each destination and arrive weeks ahead of the group event to coordinate the details and create the overall rhythm of the journey so that you can simply come, participate and enjoy being there.
The days are intentionally varied. Alongside the workshops, we may hike, visit a market or temple, take a boat, practice yoga, share a meal, explore a festival, sing, or simply spend time together.
There are two unstructured days each week. You might use them to rest, explore on your own, catch up on work, or follow an unexpected invitation that comes your way.
The journeys are small because I want there to be enough space for real connection with the artisans, with the place, and with the other people in our group.
For adults and families
These journeys are open to adults as well as parents and children aged 9 and up.
No artistic experience is necessary. You don't need to be "creative." You just need to be curious and willing to try something new.
What is included
Your participant fee covers all of the organized artisan workshops and the group cultural experiences described for your particular journey, including shared meals and excursions.
You arrange your own accommodation, flights, food outside of the included meals, and personal transportation. This gives you the freedom to choose where you stay and how you want to experience the destination.
I'll provide suggestions for accommodation, restaurants, markets and things to do in your free time, and I'm happy to help you think through the practicalities of your stay.
A one-to-one call or zoom is conducted as a matter of due diligence, to ensure alignment and expectations from participants and group leadership.
Family, parent-child and sibling discounts are available. Please contact us for the complete brochure.
+33 7 54 22 43 26 (WhatsApp) or hello@maisonrenaissance.org.
A payment plan is offered at checkout, offering the possibility to pay 30% upfront and the remaining amount in three monthly payments. All installments must be paid in full prior to beginning the workshop.
Cancellation: Your 30% deposit holds your place and is non-refundable. Cancellation is possible up to 6 weeks before the start of the experience for a full refund minus the 30% deposit. After this date has passed, a 50% deposit of the total amount can be claimed up to 4 weeks before the start of the workshop, 40% 3-weeks before the workshop, or up to 50% of the total workshop amount can be applied towards a future workshop.
